Origin of Mittie Root.

Many people have asked why Mittie Root? What’s the meaning behind the name Mittie Root? Here are a few reasons why.

    1. I couldn’t find anyone with the name Mittie Root.
    2. I wanted a name that was somewhat fun and catchy.
    3. I wanted something that had actual meaning to me.
    4. I wanted to be close to Raffi (children’s music legend) on the bookshelves.

“Mittie” is short for Martha (i.e. Mittie Roosevelt). Martha is Aramaic for “lady”. The definition of root is a part of the body of a plant that develops, typically, from the radicle and grows downward into the soil, anchoring the plant and absorbing nutriment and moisture.

Mittie Root to me means a lady who grows downward into the soil and is securely anchored. I strongly desire to be a woman with depth and richness (not wealth, but character). And just as roots grow over time, so I hope to be. Slow and steady. Strong and unyielding.

mittie.
